Peran Guru Pendidikan Keagamaan Katolik Dalam Meningkatkan Karakter Disiplin Peserta Didik SMA St. Antonius Bangun Mulia Medan

Karakter disiplin peserta didik menjadi problem khusus di kelas
X IPS SMA St. Antonius Bangun Mulia terutama kehadiran yang
tidak tepat waktu, etika berpakaian, tidak disiplin dalam
mengerjakan dan mengumpulkan tugas dan sebagainya.
Peneliti melakukan riset memiliki tujuan mengkaji mengenai
peran guru mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik dalam
meningkatkan karakter disiplin bagi peserta didik kelas X-IPS di
SMA St. Antonius Bangun Mulia. Metode yang dipakai dalam
riset ini adalah kualitatif. Metode ini dipilih peneliti lebih mudah
memahami dan mendalami suatu masalah secara mendalam
serta dapat menjelaskan secara detail suatu masalah yang
terjadi, mulai dari mengidentifikasi masalah hingga menjelaskan
solusinya. Proses pengumpulan data terdiri dari 3 tahap yaitu
pengamatan langsung oleh peneliti, wawancara mendalam dan
dokumentasi. Sasaran dari riset ini antara lain 1 guru
Pendidikan Agama Katolik, 1 guru sebaya, dan 6 siswa kelas XIPS.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: pertama, guru
pendidikan agama Katolik telah menjalankan perannya sebagai
pendidik dan pewarta melalui pembelajaran agama Katolik di
kelas, berperan sebagai petugas pastoral dengan memberikan
pelayanan, pendampingan, dan pendampingan kepada peserta
didik baik di dalam ataupun di luar pembelajaran agama Katolik,
dimulai dengan absensi, disiplin berpakaian, dan
mengumpulkan waktu penugasan secara teratur. Guru mata
pelajaran pendidikan agama Katolik juga berperan sebagai pembimbing bagi siswa. Kedua, hasil penelitian yang diperoleh
menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik mengalami peningkatan
karakter disiplin, karena kehadiran guru yang konsisten dalam
pembelajaran, khususnya dalam meningkatkan karakter
disiplin. Kepedulian dan semangat guru menjadi prioritas utama
dan memiliki peran penting di kelas maupun di sekolah. Siswa
mudah diarahkan jika guru ada di kelas, tetapi jika guru tidak
hadir di kelas, maka situasi kelas dapat menjadi tidak tertib dan
akan menimbulkan kegaduhan bagi kelas lainnya.
