Etika Kepemimpinan Biblis dalam Perspektif Teologi Politik pada Isu Geotermal Poco Leok

Abstract

This article seeks to critically examine the ethical principles of leadership articulated in the Bible, with particular attention to the Book of Wisdom of Solomon 6:1–11, and to explore their relevance for local-level public policy, especially the policy of the Manggarai Regency Government concerning the geothermal project in Poco Leok. Wisdom 6:1–11 underscores that political authority is a divine gift that entails profound moral accountability on the part of leaders. Within the framework of political theology, as articulated by Johann Baptist Metz, power is not construed merely as an administrative or technocratic function, but as an ethical vocation oriented toward the realization of justice and solidarity within the public sphere. Political authorities are thus summoned to uphold justice, to prioritize the well-being of marginalized communities, and to ground their decision-making processes in divine wisdom. In the context of the ongoing controversy surrounding the Poco Leok geothermal project, this study advances a political-theological reflection that critically interrogates prevailing practices of power and evaluates the extent to which biblical principles of wisdom and justice may inform public policies oriented toward the protection of human dignity and the integrity of creation. The study argues that leadership rooted in divine wisdom transcends the mere pursuit of technological advancement, and instead affirms ecological and social justice as concrete expressions of participation in God’s salvific action in the world.
